Galvanized Slit Strip

Galvanized Slit Strip

Galvanized slit strip is produced by longitudinally slitting hot-dip galvanized coil into narrow strips of controlled width on a precision slitting line. Unlike sheared blanking, slitting runs the coil through rotary knives that produce a continuous strip with a straight, uniform edge along its full length. The base material is hot-dip galvanized steel (GI) with thickness 0.085-1.2mm and zinc coating 20-300g/m², available in regular and big spangle finishes.

Product Description

Galvanized slit strip is produced by longitudinally slitting hot-dip galvanized coil into narrow strips of controlled width on a precision slitting line. Unlike sheared blanking, slitting runs the coil through rotary knives that produce a continuous strip with a straight, uniform edge along its full length. The base material is hot-dip galvanized steel (GI) with thickness 0.085-1.2mm and zinc coating 20-300g/m², available in regular and big spangle finishes. The defining quality of galvanized slit strip is its edge: burr-controlled, free of torn or overhanging material, and held to a consistent width tolerance that lets downstream lines run without stopping to dress the edge. Clean slit edges reduce die wear, prevent coil jams, and improve the consistency of welded or roll-formed components.

Our slitting line holds tight width tolerance across the entire coil length and keeps edge burr within a controlled range, so manufacturers running high-speed roll formers or tube mills experience fewer jams and lower defect rates. Before any non-standard slit width goes into production, our technical team reviews the customer's drawing to confirm that the requested thickness, width, and coating combination is feasible on our line, avoiding secondary trimming or costly line adjustments on your side.

Applications

High-Speed Roll Forming

Tight width tolerance and burr-controlled edges let galvanized slit strip feed through high-speed roll lines without edge jams, preserving line speed and reducing downtime on long production runs.

High-Frequency Welded Tube

Consistent strip width and a straight slit edge produce a uniform weld gap on tube mills, improving weld bead quality and reducing tube ovality and scrap.

Precision Stamping

A clean, deburred slit edge lowers die entry friction and reduces burr transfer onto stamped parts, extending die life and lowering reject rates in high-volume stamping.

Customization

We slit to customer-specified width within 0.085-1.2mm thickness and 20-300g/m² zinc coating. Edge condition and width tolerance are specified per order. OEM/ODM and drawing-based production are supported; each custom order receives first-piece confirmation on edge quality and width before batch running.

Packaging & Transportation

Export packaging uses waterproof film wrapping with rubber spacers between coils, secured by steel band strapping. Wooden reinforcement is applied inside containers to prevent movement, and accessories are packed separately. Coils can be loaded onto pallets upon request. A loading video is recorded for every export shipment. EXW is our preferred trade term; both RMB and USD settlement are accepted.

FAQ

Q1: How do you control edge burr and width tolerance during slitting?

A: We run the galvanized coil through rotary slitting knives and perform in-process patrol checks on edge appearance and width. Burr height is controlled to a specified range, and first-piece samples are approved before batch production for custom orders.

Q2: Can you slit to the width shown on our drawing?

A: Yes. Our technical team reviews every customer drawing to confirm feasible slit width, thickness, and coating combinations. If a requested dimension is outside our line capability, we propose the closest workable alternative before production.

Q3: What is the lead time for custom slit strip?

A: Standard slit widths ship within 3-5 days. Custom widths require 10-15 days after drawing confirmation. Peak-season lead times are confirmed in advance and written into the contract.
